“UPRT induced a tectonic shift in the way I approach and understand Loss of Control In-flight.”

When Certified Flight Instructor Max Chinnah earned the 2025 APS UPRT Scholarship, he expected great training. What he didn’t expect was how deeply it would reshape his understanding of control in the air. In this short video, Max shares how the APS Upset Prevention and Recovery Training “induced a tectonic shift in the way I approach and understand Loss of Control In-flight,” and why he believes the experience is essential for every pilot, regardless of airframe or flight time.

From his first flight in the Extra to his reflections on teaching future aviators, Max’s story captures the true spirit of UPRT—professionalism, discipline, and joy in flying. His genuine enthusiasm is infectious, reminding every pilot why mastery and humility go hand in hand.
